Owyhee River Rafting Trip – Eastern OR (Boise Photography)

Whew!  Wedding season has kept me working hard, and I love every minute of it.  I will have several blog posts featuring weddings from my spring season coming up soon.  In the meantime, I’d like to show you what I did on one of my days off:

This was my first trip with our new raft.  We put in on the Owyhee River not far from Jordan Valley.  The weather was sunny and beautiful, and we had an awesome time.  The scenery, flowers and beautiful colors were so cool, I just had to share.  We are planning a longer float in a couple weeks so I will post more images soon.

A few shots on the raft:

After our float, we walked a few miles back to the truck:

I admit…the hike back took a bit longer than it should have…I kept getting distracted by all the pretty flowers.  Tim got a little irritated with me, but he tolerated my enthusiasm:

Toward the end of the trail, there was a gorgeous meadow blooming with beautiful yellow sunflowers.  They were HUGE!

We met up with one of the natives on our way out:

Yes…that is Tim holding the rattlesnake.  He’s quite the snake charmer.:)

After Tim let him go, the snake was a tad irritated:

The great weather only lasted a few hours.  On our way back through Homedale, I took this picture of the flooded gas station from the storm that had just passed through.

We had a blast and are definitely looking forward to our next adventure!

Melissa L. – Fruitland:

Melissa came out to Adrian on a beautiful overcast day and we had a great time creating these pretty spring pictures:

Andrea – Adrian:

Andrea asked me to shoot her session on her family’s property, a beautiful farm between Adrian and Homedale:

Manuel wanted an urban, grungy look to his pictures.  We shot these on a very windy, cold day in Caldwell:

Picture time with Aunt Jean – Nyssa, OR (Boise Children’s Photography)

Meet my spunky, adorable niece, Scarlet, age 3.  When she sees her good old Aunt Jean with the camera, Scarlet knows it can mean only one thing…picture time.  I had to share this series of photos because they show the anatomy of how to get a good picture of Scarlet.  One word: bribery.  Notice how the expressions change once a little incentive is added for a smile.  (More coming from this session soon, including two beautiful blonde sisters and a feisty golden retriever pup.)

1. Oh, crap. Picture time with Aunt Jean. Again.:(

2. Hmmm…a red starburst…this might make things better…

3. Maybe picture time with Aunt Jean ain’t so bad after all…

4.

5. SUCCESS!!!

Scarlet’s comment to her mother after our shoot: “That was fun. That was fun with Aunt Jean.” Careful what you wish for, Scarlet….now that I know your weakness, I’ll be back.;)

Adriana and Michael’s Engagement Session – Boise, ID (Boise Engagement Photography)

This beautiful couple is Adriana and Michael from Boise.  We had this fun session about a week ago here in the Adrian area.  We took advantage of all the vibrant spring colors in bloom and got some really fun, romantic images.  Adriana loves vintage tones so I played around with a softer editing style for these images.  Below are the results:

Jacob – Boise, ID (Boise, Idaho Senior Photography)

Meet Jacob.  This session was really a fun one.  It was like having a personal tour guide to show me the best of downtown Boise.  Jacob took me to some really cool places to shoot, and we had a great time running around downtown.  Jacob was up for anything…which I love.  We started out at Jacob’s favorite pizza place for a slice of pie, then walked all through the streets and alleys looking for cool backgrounds.  We ended up on top of a parking garage at sunset and got a spectacular view of the city.  One of my favorite sessions to date.  Thanks, Jacob…you were awesome!!!

Amanda and Mitch’s Wedding – Baker City, OR (Boise Wedding Photography)

This is officially my longest post ever.  But there were so many images I wanted to share, that I decided to do it up big! Amanda and Mitch are simply an amazing couple…fun, friendly, gorgeous, and so in love.  I shot Amanda’s lovely sister Casey’s senior portraits in the fall of 2008, and she told Amanda about my work.  We met, and the rest is history.  You can see Amanda and Mitch’s engagement photos from last spring here.

I absolutely loved every moment I spent with this delightful couple and their wonderful families, and shooting their January wedding in Baker City, Oregon was a blast from start to finish.  Amanda and her bridesmaids got ready at the legendary Geyser Grand Hotel downtown.  This hotel is so beautiful with its historic period decor and warm, glowing light.  After the ceremony, We went back to the hotel for the reception.

Of course, I had to steal the couple away for a few romantic shots.  We went out into the streets, (it was freezing cold and well after dark,) for a few moments and captured what are some of my favorite couples pictures ever using a high ISO setting on my camera and some portable external lighting.  I would like to thank my friend and second shooter Frank Espinoza for his time, talent and help on this wedding.  He assisted in so many ways and made the day not only a lot more fun, but also a lot more productive as well.  Frank, you rock!  Now, on to the images:

Amanda and her sisters, sharing the mirror:

Amanda’s grandmother painted a portrait of her on this wooden mirror and gave it to Amanda when she was a child.

Look at these beautiful sisters!

Amanda’s mom is a very gifted pianist:

(Look at the young man at the lower right of the next two pictures…too cute!)
